Roof Repair & Maintenance Case Studies: Roof Repair in Westport, CT - Post Storm Sandy
Challenge
Due to inclement weather that was associated with Wind Storm Sandy, this home in Westport, Ct had some shingles that were blown off. In this specific instance, we can see that the shingles were improperly installed, which meant that they could not withstand winds up to 130 mph like our GAF certified shingles.
Solution
At first, we were only able to tarp this customer's home until further correspondence with their insurance provider. As soon as we got the go-ahead we completed a routine repair for this customer so there would not be any water damage to her roof or home. After about a month of this customer settling specifics through an insurance company, she was advised to collect estimates for the complete rip and installation of a new roof.
After the details were resolved with the customer's insurance company, we were able to rip the initial layers of roofing, inspect the sheathing for any rotted wood, and install our roofing system. While we replaced the roof on the main home, to keep with uniformity - we ended up re-roofing the gazebo located on the property as well!
